Hello again, fellow travelers! I’m Salisha (but you can call me Sally), and I am super excited to welcome you to my little corner of the world, where passports get stamped, bags stay half-packed, and adventure is always on the horizon.
I was born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad & Tobago and at the age of 16 I immigrated to the United States.
At the age of 20 I joined the U.S. Navy and after serving on active duty for 23 years, living in six different countries (Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Greece, Italy, Egypt) and of course the United States, and exploring a childhood dream as a flight attendant, I have finally combined my love for the sea, air, and land into this little travel space to share my experiences and hopefully help you break free from fear, routine, and comfort zones…and just GO!
Whether it is hopping on a flight solo, planning a trip with your partner or Family, or saying yes to that last-minute getaway with friends, I have done it all! And I am here to show you that you can too.
This blog was born out of a deep desire to share my real, raw travel experiences in a way that opens minds and shifts perspectives.
I will be sharing travel guides, tips, cultural insights, Shopping finds, must-try foods, packing checklists, and real talk about the highs and lows of globetrotting.
You will also meet Sunny the penguin, my travel mascot, who keeps things fun, honest and offer valuable tips along the way.
So buckle up, grab your hat and sunglasses, and let’s take off, one country, one memory, and one adventure at a time!
Okay, I know it’s a little unconventional to have a penguin as part of a travel blog, but hear me out. I have always loved penguins. They are loyal, adventurous, and always stick together, no matter where life (or the current) takes them. That loyalty really speaks to me, and it’s how I approach travel, storytelling, and my connection with all of you.
That’s why Sunny exists, besides the fact that she’s undeniably cute, she keeps things fun, light-hearted, and a little cheeky, even when plans don’t go how we planned. You will see her popping up with key facts and reminders.
Sunny represents my promise to stay loyal, to travel, to honesty, and to you as my readers. She is here to share real tips, honest advice, with a whole lot of personality, because travel should always be joyful, imperfect, and real.
In 2015, I was living in Italy I had some vacation between jobs and decided I wanted to drive around Europe, so I packed a bag and took off without any set plans but a basic idea of what countries I wanted to drive through. I started from Naples to northern Italy a city called Remine, then to Vienna Austria, Krakow Poland, Berlin Germany, The Hague in The Netherlands, Brussels Belgium, Luxembourg, through France, up into the Black Forest, Switzerland, Milan, and back home.
That trip changed everything. For the first time, I felt truly free – free from schedules, fear, and limits.
When I retired from the Navy, I took that same spirit with me and spent seven months traveling the world: Japan, Thailand, Bali, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, India, Ethiopia, Greece, Italy, Ecuador, and even the Galápagos Islands before heading back to the States.
Every country I explored, every city I wandered, and every person I met reminded me that life is too short to stay afraid.
I met so many beautiful people around the world each with their own story, laughter, and kindness.
In some of the poorest countries, I met some of the happiest people, people who had almost nothing but radiated joy. It made me stop and realize again how lucky I am, and how much beauty there is in simplicity, and how connected we all are as human beings.
That’s why I created Sally’s Adventures and my motto: No Borders, No Limits, Just Go!!!
The fear of the unknown will always whisper, What if it goes wrong?
But adventure whispers back, What if it all goes right?
I know many women, some I’ve met in person, others through travel blogs, who want to travel but are afraid to take that first step. If travel is what you dream of, then you can do it.
Our lives are too short not to follow the things that set our souls on fire.
DO NOT let fear hold you back from the world that’s waiting for you.
So, let’s break free, from doubt, from hesitation, from the limits we impose from ourselves.
Let’s live boldly. Let’s live with No borders, No limits, and just Go!!!
